Why event type matters: Across all 102 events, even across all event types mixed together, participants explains over half the variation in revenue (R² = .53). And when you filter by type, the relationships get dramatically tighter. The reason: different event types have fundamentally different growth dynamics. Walk/Run events scale nearly linearly — add people, add dollars. Endurance and DIY events hit steep diminishing returns, because the high fundraising gate that makes each participant so valuable also limits how many you can recruit.
